Picture Catch Up

It only took one lady to see me carrying a pail out to the salt feeder. That one coming a running herself and seen by the rest of the mob prompted the lot of them all moving as one in a stampede fashion towards me. They weren’t about to miss out on anything good the first lady might have wind of. Sheesh, females?

Spent most my shop-time making right what idiot shade tree mechanics had undone upon the Tall Ollie even if it they were slight mistreatment's to the machine as a whole. Seems every casting we were to work upon had missing bolts whether they were there to hold the main body castings of the machine together or to even hold the sheet metal to those castings, in most of today’s worked castings the holes worked on were to hold the deck plates.
In every empty bolt hole housed a deposited bug expected to emerge this next spring. Shame on me killing an uncounted number of other parents offspring. I feel so bad, so guilty, so sad. }:^((
Operations required my fitting a drill bit into a salvaged chuck from a discarded electric hand drill motor. The chuck made for a handy handle to work the bit in and out of the holes avoiding damaging thread. Bugs evicted I run an appropriate thread chaser in and out of the holes. Holes cleared I could the search for the required missing bolts and lock washers to properly hold everything together with a wee dab of anti-seize lubricant.

Here they are for bit of another Picture Catch Up:
Now here’s a whole new trial manner to hot wire discouragement to the bottom of a livestock gate. href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v343/FMGruber/2009%20Shorthorn%20Country/?action=view¤t=FarmPics2009008-7.jpg" target="_blank">Photobucket
A picture worth a 1000 words, the other end is similar to this. Only one exception is in the red plastic conduit insulating the current delivery to the wires. The conduit’s insulation also prevents the slack wire from shorting out when the gate is opened.

Learned from internet yesterday: the torque required to remove the nut from a "scientifically rusted" environment. Trying varied penetrating oils ..... These were torque loads to take the rusted parts apart.

Here’s my home made 50/50 atf*/acetone mix in a dish soap bottle with a salvaged bottle pump. To use or apply mixture simply shake the bottle to stir contents and squirt where desired or needed.
Well this all I’m going to say today. I hope some folks find my information (even that what was stolen) useful. BGKC.

What’s up today?

Frieda’s talking a new knee. I got up without a backache. Spat’s taken a ride to Lansing for a fertility test. I missed getting out in time to say, “Bon Voyage, Spats.” But got numerous instructions what I could do and where I could go just the same.
Clear skies, full moon all night, it’s looking like a day to take a bite of and enjoy. I slept almost till 6:00 AM second day in a whole row. Ate venison last nite. Life is good.
~~~~~~~~~~
Had to make remodeling fix the electrical discouraging hot wires on the younger bulls pen gate. I wound up using some (not all) high tension fence insulators, some spring loaded electric fence post insulators and some stainless steel hose clamps. Should I remember, I’ll try to take a picture tomorrow of the key assemblings.
I worked on the tall tractor seat. Managed to take it well apart, almost. Have an adjustment bolt frozen in the whole of the assemblage. Have liberally oiled the troubled spot with penetrating oil. It’ll take two seat bases parts to make one whole working base.
Helping Ray with his chores I walked into the shock of my life seeing the barn’s feed and tack area had been cleaned up and the trash packed into five extra large feed sacks. Three more bags from the shop the trashman’s a pile to pickup there come tomorrow.
So, backing the honey wagon up, a couple three days ago my walking into the upper barn there was more mess up there than I ever wanted to contend with. Simple fact of is I haven’t picked up after the kids in over a year, and have continued to wonder when they might do something about it for a change. I hadn’t had a thing to do with ever making a mess the depths they have let it go for the last couple years. And when I saw there mess having grown to gargantuan proportions with their chore boots strewn everywhere, I lost it. I didn’t spout off, I didn’t blow a gasket, I did remain calm, cool, collected, and while I was at it I simply picked up their boots and threw the lot of them into the mounting trash pile I hadn’t had a thing to do with. Wow! Now I’m wondering what do they want?
Lost an asshole know-it-all mouthy bigoted friend this morning whom I don’t know how many times I’d had liked to have punched his headlights out. One thing he was, he was always there to give another farmer a hand regardless what or where he was or was not doing. He’d drop everything come on run to help. Damn it, I’m going to miss him. Divorced he leaves one 20 yr old son the farm lock, stock, and barrel. I hope Jack isn’t to timid or bashful to ask his new peers for thoughts, advice and/or help. His dad couldn’t have been more than 50 yrs old himself having had something like three heart attacks within the last two weeks. He’d had one stint put in. It had collapsed and they put another one inside it. A few days later another stint next to the first two. He called his son home. His son called 911 for an ambulance. He died in our local heart specialists hospital.
Frieda has been hospitalized there twice and dreads ever going there again. Give us the County Hospital (Hurley). Everybody there knows us and takes such good care of us. Bottom line, I trust them with doing their best with my life, our lives. BGKC
PS: Oww! And Spats? It's reported he has the goods. Now the question is his ability to deliver the goods?
to cell or not to cell
Yesterday last day shotgun/rifle deer season, last night at dark saw four deer just off the shoulder of the road and a ten point buck when I had dropped off Handy our coming back from the Crossroads.
~~~~~~~~~~~
A bit of recent family history.
Herr Clink ragged on me for months to get a cell phone. Brother was in the hospital for months for a chopper accident near killing him. I became run down holding the farm yards together by myself. Rundown I was finally diagnosed with heart, lung, and liver diseases, plus I wasn’t expected even feel it when my time came come my never knowing I had hit the ground. Maybe she might have figured I could say GoodBye on my way down and out?
The first cell was the best I had ever had. That was 10 years ago. It worked everywhere. As time went on the battery died. No battery available I had to upgrade. HA! Upgrading has been a down hill slide ever since. However the cell’s use has been a heavy time and fuel saver. Six/seven months use out of the year two cells have more than broken even on cost’s use.
The biggest single thing what bothers me, two things really, is when my hands are full somebody wants me, or something or other I haven’t time for. The worst are the wanna chat calls. I can’t turn it off, as we’re two handicrapers dependent up their life saving capabilities bringing us help (the medical biggy) fuel, tools, parts; should we need any those. The cell phone ring has been, it’s worked out, our first step to first-aid one of us in trouble at least twice/thrice over the last eeelemon years.
Grinning and bearing it…..
~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, onto today’s brighter enlightenments:
First thing right turn out the driveway it was elevator for supplements, then on down the road for Tom and empty feed wagon. It was the day to grind fresh feed.
Delivery the feed or ground feed we came upon this tractor with full grain bin combined corn loading into semi truck trailer. And the harvest goes on.
I don’t know that I accomplished anything after that? I poked around into this’d’that the last of morning right on into the afternoon‘s beginning. Well maybe I did manage to make a couple headlight brackets for the John Deere-4020. Having the work lights off the old 4020 cab I’ll fit two of those to the back the JD’s better cab. So all the time spent wasn’t totally lost.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Late this afternoon had to take Frieda to Doc’s office. Her left knee paining her so there’s talk she’ll see her knee surgeon for another replacement.
Dropping Frieda off I moseyed up the road a mile to see Brian for a low back adjustment. Oooh, ouch, ouch, snap, crackle, pop, ouch, ouch, he got my left side’s sacroiliac back in place. I think I had felt it go out the other day grinding feed. Then when I got up this AM my sacroiliac certainly did it’s talking to the rest of me. Having to grind grain again this AM, and having to transport Her Mostess, and having to pickup my over the counter drugs on today’s senior citizen discount day. Then having to wait an hour for one of Frieda’s meds to be called in that was a fun hour shot. Not all was lost as I had managed to call Doc’s office calling the receptionist “Beautiful” while encouraging her to expedite the script thing. Time passing the pharmacist wanting to get rid of me and the crowd I was entertaining with my banter he called the receptionist his also calling her “Beautiful” also. The nerve of him using my line. Evidently it worked a moment later it had the script came back, called in.
Finally on my way home, I had firewood to bring in, the ladies to feed, and I had wanted to try my newly homemade light brackets on the JD. Then somewhere within my busy fading light activities Her Mostess calls me to come get her. Sheesh! Only a couple hours prior she had told me I needn’t been bothered. Our daughter was going to bring her home. While I went on with what I had to do while I still had even a smidgen of daylight I celled daughter. She having thought she was supposed to pick up her mother up on her mother’s beckoning call. Fine thing, a mother having forgotten she was to call her daughter in the first place. Oh Lawd, give me strength.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for another something entirely different. I telephone service plainly unraveling.
Photobucket Such a lovely picture of a Verizon telephone service lives holding up what’s left of a cut off dead tree. I don’t want to suggest Verizon should ever hurry any, but a decade a dead tree hanging around? BGKC.
Did I or Did I not.....
...Scrap my boots off before coming in last night?
That was the stinken question running, dripping, smudging, dirtying, tracking our floors through my mind on waking until I'd downed my first cup coffee. The go juice's effects washing the cobwebs my overnight mind one small memory resurfaces.... Hallelujah, I left my stinky boots out by the door. Oh Shyit! Was that inside or outside the door?
Oh crap. Is this one more degenerative mind thing I'll suffer everytime I squeeze my brain into that 1816 Case skid-steer seat. The sacrifices one makes when his hips become a real squeeze through a barn-stall's gate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last November day? I ain't ready for this!
We had a miserably early rain yesterday. Weather jokers predicting late rain again for today. They said that yesterday. Now, they've got that same opportunity to mess it up al over again today.
Why not?
It's getting closer, flaps down weather.
Damn it. I used to look forward to winter snows. But I'm feeling so, I don't know, more tired lately. Thinking about this I just had to go look and see if the deck was covered with the white stuff. It wasn't. I hope daylight gets here soon. I'm feeling a melancholy episode coming on. Chuck it I'm going to go look for some internet stuffed bikini's.
All kinds of varied “This is not good for you” massages I didn’t find any pretty maids all in a row. I guess I’ll just have to wait for the swimsuit issue.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My mind wondering if we got snow, even before day light I switched on the porch light and was relieved not to have seen snow. Whew! There had been offered a slight chance of snow flurries over night.
I continued yesterday’s good times all day to day playing once more in the Shyit. I like playing in my modeling clay more and more all those days when I was a kid. The best parts about the fun activities today I didn’t have change buckets. Worst parts of my day were the two times I had to make fix the turd hearses PTO drive chain. Butt, the barns cleaned. Glory be that’s done for awhile.
Now Lucky Me I get to grind grain again tomorrow. Seems like it were only Friday last I did that very same thing. Handy asked me for a ride over to the crossroads. His timing was right on. We were out of bread and milk.
The day I changed Frieda’s name coming up she wanted another ham. Talk about a libido attack, and all these years I had thought I were ham enough for her. Well, swallowing my pride, I got her a honey cured spiral cut precooked ham. From what I had had overheard her planning a few days ago my mouth has been watering for ham. Then come the old switcher-roo, she decided she’d rather roast a chunk of beef. And, she talking roasting it, my mouth already watering for a boiled dinner. All this menu change the last couple days to end my taste buds so confused I may stoop so low as to eat somechick’s unborn. A couple salt and peppered hard boiled eggs.
Seemingly feeling like it is past my bed time and unable to rationally think of anything more on an intelligent level to write. Bailing out, I want to go to bed. So, BGKC.
Evening's start I forgot these
I put up three more posted post signs yesterday. When poaching season ends, open country snowmobiler’s will thoughtlessly take to smart arsed wholesale trespassing. It’s getting tougher to press charges on these guys. The required size for posted license numbers has grown smaller and my eyes weaker. I get short tempered when these people see a hole in the fence. Like waving a red flag in front of a bull, they find it a place to go charging through like its an open invitation to treat the land behind it as a public thoroughfare. They’re careless they may be damaging a crop sleeping under the snow.
Yes I know the word “these” is meaning plural. It’s like this! I forgot the second thing I was going to catch up on while writing the first one. Arrggghhhh!!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m sadly reminded…
The time I ordered some rather shapely play things out-a Fredrick's Hollywood catalog one time. All I got was a bunch of soup straining rags in a plain brown wrapper. When Frieda looked at them she saw them as something different than I did, even excitedly thanking me for some such an odd personally intimate gift. “Intimate” was her word for the stuff? Luckily it had all worked out for my better or worsened with some rather interested after hours private shows. It's no wonder I'm so damned tired in my after life for everything my colleen had so savagely worked out what strength I once had within me many years ago. crying smiley Pictures, Images and Photos A regular old book Delieya she was. Damn, I remember right if I had even given into her every time she’d often cut my hair. crying smiley Pictures, Images and Photos Oh Lawd, I’m a-feared I learned to late.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had one thoroughly crappy day pitching manure, my liking wearing the compact case skidsteer. Part way through the crappy adventure I had to exchange the skid steer’s material bucket for it’s manure bucket. It was about here I’d have let anyone join in the fun putting a hand in’ Then I needn’t have had to get my fingers offal dirty seeking out the buckets pins.
To add even more interest to the late morning’s activity start the rains coming down during the noon hour weren’t really expected until late evening. It has felt so much better finally getting after having been rain soaked twice today. Ooh! The unmentionable pleasures of a farmer always the one who is the first and last to get his hand in. BGKC.
My Day Proper (Afternoon Edition)
Herr Clink has been making some, “I’ll cut your hair” overtures around here. She's suggesting she'll only trim me up around my face leaving my neck hair grow long for its furry warmth. She's hinting at only wanting a better view my eyes. Anyway listening to her prospectus I'm dreading coming out from under the sheet with bangs over my eyes? I'm not so sure I could take all the comments for the some such an appearance from that occasional dinner stop? Nor, could I take it the Scoob woofing it up and the ladies "My, how cute he is" comments either...
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, once I got underway, this AM, I managed to grind a neighbor a load of ground corn. I even delivered it and parked the load in his barn, all before lunch. I hain’t been messing around here!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Follows a picture my afternoon accomplishment.
Photobucket
It took me most the afternoon using three saws each with its own style/type blade. That or load up at least three pickup loads varied tires and PAY a supposed tire recycling center $3,00/car tire, $15,00/tractor tire, to gladly take them off my hands. So between inflation, a poor profit margin, whenever I should find idle empty time on my hands. I guess I’ll be cutting up tires for fun and relaxations profit for some time to come.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The hour’s nearing 8:00 PM and I’m just starting to feel the need for sleep. Sure beats the unnoticed near delivery my face in my supper plate. BGKC.
